Question: Our family agrees that my mom needs an adult day program, but she doesn't like the idea. How do we get her to attend?

Answer: Some people imagine that adult day health is like child daycare or a nursing home placement. They need assurance that the people do not live at the day program, and that it will help them maintain or increase their independence. Our staff has many strategies to help your mom warm up to the program. For example, adult day health can be viewed as going to the "club" for continuing education and exercise. Some of our participants focus on the classes they attend at ElderHealth or the opportunities they have here to help others. We've served thousands of elders, and we've noticed that some of our strongest supporters were initially the most resistant in trying out an adult day program!
