Families are often stretched to find preparation time for the holidays. Finding time to shop or decorate can be an extra challenge for those caring for a loved one.
ElderHealth offers an adult day health program on weekends, providing respite for families and fun activities for our participants. Throughout the year we offer special services on weekends, such as bathing and hair care, and to close out this year we’ll enjoy making pumpkin pie, stockings and ornaments to celebrate the holidays. We’ll soon be having a ball with our famous “turkey bowling”!
Our program includes optional, non-denominational religious services, of great benefit to elders that may face physical or emotional barriers to attending observances in their community.
These special weekend activities are offered at ElderHealth’s South Seattle location. We can assist in arranging transportation to and from the program.
For more information about adult day services at ElderHealth, contact Jennifer at (206) 528-5315. For persons in need of overnight respite, Gaffney House continues to offer short and long-term stays. For more information, contact Residence Manager Steve Emmer at (206) 838-1930, stevee@elderhealth.org.

"Alternative Gift Fair"
Saturday, December 4, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Northshore United Church of Christ
18900 168th Ave NE, Woodinville
(425) 483-6557
This December, shoppers may choose holiday gifts to honor family and friends while supporting charities and non-profit organizations.
Northshore United Church of Christ is hosting its second annual “Alternative Gift Fair,” featuring approximately 20 non-profit organizations.
For each contribution, the donor will receive a card—including a description of the organization and gift that’s been made—to give on the holiday. For example, a gift may be purchased from ElderHealth that will pay for emergency glucose treatments or nutritious lunches for our participants at our adult day health centers. The fair also features vendors of handcrafted items and baked goods.
This free event is open to the public and promises a calmer shopping experience than that found in a busy mall: live music, candlelight, and a place to sit and enjoy cider will make for a refreshing afternoon out.
In addition, your gift donations will be tax deductible, payable in one lump sum by cash or check, and will be highly cherished by your family and friends.
